( Rules ! )
A brief word about rules: They are necessary. And I happen to be meaner than Wolfy with a lot more pet peeves. However, I will try to keep this as short and non-rambling as possible. Also, Wolfy is obviously the owner of this site and may change anything about this she wants to. (Except my pretty template, of course.)
( Registration ! )
- This site is hosted on Proboards, therefore you must register with your name in all lowercase letters and then change it once you are accepted. This can be done by going to your profile and clicking "Modify Profile". The space to change your username is in the very first section titled "Account Information". There is no set requirement for what your name should look like, just don't make it obnoxious (i.e. ISABELLE HARRISON?!!?!?) or well... ugly (i.e. isabelleharrison932). You have the freedom to change it to whatever you want, so make it pretty please! Just don't abuse it. Oh, and your username MUST include your characters first and last name. That goes without saying.
- Suggestions For Name Formatting
first middle last.
first [middle] last.
First Middle Last
First [Middle] Last
First "Nickname" Last
first "nickname" last.- When making a character, you must fill out the application completely. This means meeting all of the requirements, which will be specified within the application. YOU MUST WAIT UNTIL YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN ACCEPTED TO BEGIN ROLE PLAYING!
- After you have been accepted, be sure to post in the face claim and any other claims that you might desire. If you do not claim your character's playby, that playby will still be open. That means that if someone comes along after you wanting to use that playby, they will be able to as long as they claim it as well. We provide the code and everything, all you have to do is post it. Click here to claim your face, but please do not claim until you have posted your application. Face claims may be reserved for four days.
- As always, if you have any questions, PM an admin. We're really quite nice. =)
( Literacy ! )
- We are very lenient on level of literacy. However, there are a few basic guidelines that should be kept in mind while role playing here.
- No one liners. If we discover that you regularly post one liners, we will contact you and ask you to change your most recent post and then improve them. There is no minimum word count for this site at the moment, but we ask that you try to post at least one good paragraph. It's not difficult to do. Describe your characters actions, thoughts, feelings, surroundings... but keep it interesting, please. No one wants to read twelve paragraphs about cloud formations, ya dig?
- Grammar is key. Please make sure that you use proper grammar. You MUST capitalize on this site, none of that 'all lowercase' trend unless you are out of character. Make sure to include apostrophes and other punctuation in appropriate places, and try to spell as best you can. If possible, use a program with a spell check feature, it can be very helpful. Also, know the difference between confusing words like they're, their, and there. Your and you're, through and threw, the basic ones. If English is your second language, you should probably tell me so I don't go all bitchy-bitchy on you. ^^ I know this sounds like a mean post, but don't worry, I only correct people who consistently make the same mistake. So if you misuse an apostrophe or accidentally type "your" instead of "you're", don't sweat it.
- NO CHATSPEAK IN CHARACTER. This deserves its own bullet because it's very very important.
( In Character ! )
- This section shouldn't be too long because most of it was covered in literacy. In summary: Your posts must be grammatically correct with no one liners.
- No powerplaying or godmoding! This means that if your characters are in a fight, you cannot say, "Susie punched Sally, knocking her out. Susie jumped around in victory, kicking Sally's unconscious body as she did so." Now, that was obviously a ridiculous and exaggerated example, but you get my point. Also, please do not add an extreme twist (such as shooters showing up in the school or your characters getting mugged) without asking your partner first. Which brings me to my next rule.
- Keep it realistic! Your character MAY NOT be a mary-sue, meaning that they cannot be perfect or ridiculously close to perfect. Regarding their past and such, please do not make it tragic. Not everyone was kidnapped by a psychopath and raped on a daily basis before somehow escaping and making it to high school, or is a Russian prince who can beat anyone up yet is blind and very sweet on the inside. On that note, this is a HUMANS ONLY role play. This means no vampires, werewolves, fairies, etc. Oh, and no Foxxes.
- Please try to make your characters unique and dynamic! Not everyone is a shy, adorable girl who gets all the guys anyway or a super-hot outgoing yet sensitive and smart guy who writes poetry in his spare time. Don't be afraid to make a complete loser or an asshole, seriously.
- If you are going to make your character get pregnant or have a child, you MUST confirm it with an admin first. We can't have a million pregnant people running around. This goes for any other significant sub-plot as well.
( Out Of Character ! )
- You may use chatspeak out of character, but not excessively. By this I mean: "Hey guys, I'll brb" is okay, "hey guiz, ill brbbbbbbbbbbbbbb!" is not. Please spell out words like "people" and "you" as well.
- Be nice to others! We do not want people fighting in the chatbox over stupid things. If you really want to fight, do it somewhere else. Ask the person for their AIM and fight with them there if you have to. Just resolve it before you get back here.
- No whining or pestering people to reply. If someone you were role playing with has to go, don't post shit like "AWWW, CAN YOU REPLY TO ME ONE MORE TIME BEFORE YOU GO?!" then throw a hissy fit when they say no. Be patient when waiting for a reply, and don't go around whining about how no one wants to role play with you just because they haven't replied in a day or two. If they haven't replied in, say, a week or so, you may nicely remind them of the thread that you want them to reply to. But don't greet them every time they get on with, "OMG REPLY TO AUDREY?!?!?!?!?!?" It annoys everyone, and makes other people feel like you don't want to talk to them. I understand that sometimes you can be really into a role play, but try not to be obnoxious about it. People have things to be doing besides replying, so just keep that in mind.
( Graphics ! )
- We do ask that you have an icon and a signature depicting your character. This must not stretch the board. Please don't make your signature taller than 300 pixels or wider than 500 pixels. Your icon can either be 100 x 100 or 150 x 200. If your graphics stretch the board, you will be asked to change them.
- Do not steal someone else's graphics! It's not that difficult to credit the maker or make your own.
- If you would like graphics made for you, you can post a thread in the Graphics sub-board.
( Other ! )
- Role playing is all about fun, so enjoy yourselves! Don't stress about it and make it a serious thing, okay?
- If you have any questions or need help, feel free to PM an admin or post a thread about it, I'm sure someone will be willing to help!
- In case these rules aren't clear and long enough, use common sense! We reserve the right to warn/suspend you if you do something that's just plain stupid and should be an obvious "No no".
- Lastly, swearing and sex is allowed, just don't get too explicit with it. This means don't have your characters having sex ALL the time. Every thread DOES NOT need to end in your characters fucking. The swearing rule also goes for out of character: Don't overuse curse words. If you will be making a thread with mature content in it, please say so in the title. (i.e. "Mature!", "[M]" "[R]").
